'Drawing from their vast experience in making classical music available, Mssrs. Henley and Jackson have crafted a thoroughly enjoyable work that is of value both to the newcomer to classical music as well as the more seasoned aficionado. They approach the subject with both a love of music and a strong awareness of the reluctance many people have to become involved with this musical form ... a relaxed, informative, and eminently enjoyable introduction to the field of classical music.' ---- Donald F Calbreath, New York Journal of Books

One small annoyance though is that there were occasional links to a special section of the Classic FM website set up associated with the book, with download links & more info, & this no longer exists. I understand that eventually webpages will be considered outdated & no longer necessary, but it's only been a year since the book was first published - surely a little soon to retire resources?
Easy to read, good reference book and lots of very intesting facts about the composers.

This is a pretty shallow introduction to classical music, so I wouldn't exactly say it's 'everything' you ever wanted to know. Read morePublished 12 months ago by Lovenow
A good introduction for a new comer like me, not overly technical but we'll written, detailed and laid out. It'll certainly encourage you to seek out some music.Published 12 months ago by sam_acw
Not as comprehensive as the title suggests. The humour..such as it is...is very middle class.Published 12 months ago by Paul Machin
