5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the title 31 May 2014

I have read many books about beating cancer but there were some suggestions in this one that I had not seen elsewhere. It is an ideal book for anyone new to the subject. It is written in plain English and is very readable.
Read this before you see your doctor and then watch him squirm because all he knows about is surgery, radiation and drugs. The drug companies have a stranglehold on the health services and most of the cancer charities. So you need to arm yourself with good, clear, unbiased information before you make your treatment decisions. This book is a great place to start.

I found this book very informative and helpful. I am not a complete health nut but I do try to follow a reasonably sensible healthy diet and lifestyle and believe we should generally all take more responsibility for our own health rather than doing whatever we please and then expecting the Doctor to hand out pills to fix us up.

I have a very different take on the book than the very negative review posted by Josephine Jones. She paints it as only promoting extreme therapies. This is not the case at all and I think she has taken snippets of the book out of context to paint it in a very dark light. Its more a case of giving us the information to help us make our own decisions and it does give some coverage to therapies outside the current NHS regime but what Cancer sufferer given a poor or terminal diagnosis wouldn't want to know what else is out there ?

I have lent the book to several friends and relatives, some with Cancer and some who have a high risk of various Cancers in the family and all have found it to be interesting and informative.

I like this book partly because there is also a focus on prevention far beyond the usual stay out of the sun, don't get fat and don't smoke. I would recommend this book not just to anyone with Cancer but anyone who really wants to know what they can do to reduce their risk of getting it to start with. As a parent of 3 young children and with childhood cancers on the increase I obviously want to minimise my children's chances of becoming victims too and would recommend it to other parents likewise.

The book gives lots of helpful information on areas such as diet and nutrition, possible toxins and more and its not all extreme so that where we can we include them in our daily family life. Lots of the recommendations in the book go hand in hand with trying to follow a healthy lifestyle anyway, good diet, exercise etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute must...cancer bible! 12 July 2014

I bought this book for my boyfriend who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in Aug 2013, he has not put it down since! It is VERY easy to read, you can jump into it anywhere, he comes back to review it time and time again as he learns more about what he needs to eat to help him stay in the best health possible. His words 'anyone who has cancer should buy this book'!! If you know anyone that has cancer and they may need some information to help themselves then do them a favour and buy this book as a gift. I dont think I have ever spent 20 quid more wisely. His tools for learning are this book, his iPAD (another excellent present by the way cant speak highly enough, helped him through Chemo trips, portable etc) and his notepad which is getting full of information. Buy it, read it, change your eating habits (useful for anyone else who is ill or healthy actually!) there is hope out there so believe...as the doctors dont help you with this part....they are great but there is more that you can do than just go to hospital!!

This book is a must for every home because you will know someone with the disease at some time and read it now you could prolong or even save a life, because the NHS is narrow minded and have no time to waste on multi task daily treatment, hell they even tell you to eat tons of sugar to stop weight loss mmmm cancer feeds on sugars I can tell you that for free but to find out more buy this book and the rainbow diet and you stand a fighting chance

This book is densely written but easy to read. I have the attention span of a gnat so I would not have been able to stay with it if it was not. If it was not easy to read, I mean, unlike this review. What I'm trying to say is that if you or anyone you know has cancer, please get this book. They won't need to look any further for the information they need to boost their immune system, counter-balance any damaging effects they might be experiencing from conventional treatments and give themselves the best chance of survival.

I was given a 50:50 chance of surviving cancer in 1996, and I chose to refuse the recommended chemo, tamoxifen and radiotherapy. Instead I drastically changed my lifestyle and adopted many of the practices described in Woollams book. If it had been available at the time I would not have had to search far and wide for the information he has helpfully collated into one easy read. There are drains and radiators in this world. We need to avoid the drains and stick with the radiators. Chris Woollams is one of them.
