Product Description

Guess who I’m temping for this week: Forest Redder. Yes, the Forest Redder, millionaire commercial real estate powerhouse (whatever that is…) There’s nothing on this guy in the Need to Know database, but the man is seriously HOT! There’s no way someone this tall, dark and delicious is sleeping alone every night—women probably hand over their panties the first time they meet him. Other women, I mean, not me--I’m so over his type (I’ve dated enough of D.C.’s “eligible bachelors” to know they’re mostly lying scumbags. Or married. Or gay. Or…Well, you know.) But maybe I can do a little “hands-on” research and write up a report on him myself? You know, for the good of our members... ;) There’s just one problem. I think he knows. And I think he knows I know he knows. And if he exposes me as the woman behind Need to Know, I could lose everything I’ve worked for… -- Other Red-Hot Reads from Mills & Boon & Cosmo include: Afterburn by Sylvia Day (August 2013), Fearless by Tawny Weber (September 2013), Cake by Lauren Dane (September 2013), Naked Sushi by Jina Bacarr (October 2013), Aftershock by Sylvia Day (November 2013)

3.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know 15 Oct 2013
By Kate Phillips TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
Normally I find that books start well and either stay that way or slowly get worse. Everything You Need to Know broke that rule. When it started it was ok but it got better as it went along instead of worse.

I think the issue I had at the beginning of this book was the whole website thing. The main character runs a website where women go to talk about their dates with men in the local area. It means you can check up on the man you are going out on a date with before you date him, like a directory. I have to say that I really don't like that idea. Although Jordan did her best to verify all the information on the site it is impossible to vet everything and if a man set up a website like this about woman we would all go mad. It is especially bad because it affects the professional life of some of the men on the site which is not fair to them or the people who work for them. It really took me some time to get my head around the whole idea and I wasn't a fan of it at all.

Everything else about this book was pretty good and when I settled in I ended up really enjoying it. The characters were a little hit and miss. Jordan got on my nerves a little bit, her hang ups about her mother went a little too far and I hated her stubborn streak especially towards the end. She nearly lets her happily ever after escape because she is too proud, because she thinks she doesn't need anybody which is not true. Forest was awesome, I thought he was charming, sweet and had his head firmly screwed on. He shared a lot with Jordan and she shared nothing with him but instead of walking away he fought for them but she had to do the work because he had already put everything in. He wanted to be with her but not for anything less than an equal trusting partnership.

An enjoyable read, loved Forest. Like the pacing, no real low points. The story was new and interesting which can be difficult for a romantic tale.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars-contemporary romance with a twist 15 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
3.5 stars-EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW is the latest contemporary romance stand-alone storyline from author Helenkay Dimon and Cosmo Red Hot Reads. I am not sure if Helenkay has plans for any more books surrounding the premise of this particular storyline, but there are plenty more stories to tell.

The premise focuses on Jordan McAdam and her website for single women hoping to uncover the truth behind some of Washington DC's most eligible bachelors. Need To Know is a website where members post about their experiences with the men in the Washington DC area and women looking for information only need to ask a question and it will be answered. And of course, the bachelors are not too impressed with what is being said when the comments and revelations begin to affect their personal, private and corporate lives.

Jordan is currently working for a temp agency and her latest assignment will find her face to face with Forest Redder- a man whose dating history remains a secret and one that Need To Know and Jordan are desperate to uncover.

The relationship between Forest and Jordan begins as a business arrangement but soon becomes something much more and Forest begins to suspect that Jordan is hiding a secret and knows much more about the Need To Know website than she is letting on. As Forest begins to uncover the who and what of the site, Jordan knows that once the truth is revealed their relationship will never be the same.

Helenkay Dimon invites the reader into a world of what ifs and whys. Each chapter begins with a request for information about a bachelor and a response from someone who has had experience with the man. It is really quite intriguing especially when you read the questions and answers.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Welcome to Need to Know--Because a Woman Can't Be Too Informed
Dating in D.C. is like navigating an apocalyptic wasteland populated by men in expensive suits with zero mating potential. Need to Know provides all the information a savvy single woman like you needs to avoid dating disasters.

By night, Jordan McAdam is the proprietor of a popular website that rates D.C.'s hottest bachelors--everything from how quick they are email you back to their skills in the sack. She's been burned once too often to accept any man at face value. By day, her job as an office temp puts her in the perfect position to do a little fact checking on her rich and powerful subjects. When her latest assignment brings her face to face with the sexy but mysterious Forest Redder, Jordan decides to do a little "hands on" research of her own. To Jordan, he seems like the perfect man - but she knows there is no such thing. Moreover, there's a big problem: Forest knows Jordan's the woman behind the scandalous site--and Jordan knows he knows. Will he expose her secret--or find his own posted on Need to Know?

What I Liked:

Well, it's been quite some time since I picked up a romance read! My last review posted on my site - of Spinning Gold by Vivi Andrews - was written months ago, as I read the book months ago. I've been reading a lot of Young Adult novels recently - and quite a few of them have been sequels, which is nice. But it was refreshing to pick a romance read, for a change! I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed them.

This book is a novella, so it wasn't a full-length story between Jordan and Forest, but it was a great story nonetheless. Jordan with her Need To Know business, and Forest with his millionaire self - lovely combination. The "CEO" and "secretary" angle is a little overused in romance novels, but I don't read too many contemporary romance stories - and certainly not recently - so I was okay with that.

The plot was pretty straightforward. We have the almost immediate chemistry between Jordan and Forest - upon sight, it seemed - and then we have Forest's business with Ryan Peterson, a former employer of Jordan (technically, he wasn't her employer, but whatever). Jordan is thrown into the mix because she owns Need To Know, a site where women post things about men that they have previously dated, or ask questions about men they want to date. Jordan put Ryan Peterson on the site, even though they didn't date.

This is a big deal, because Forest recently backed out of a business deal with Ryan, right around the same time that Jordan stopped working as a temp for Ryan, and also, when she put information about him on Need To Know. I think we all know where this is heading - Jordan gets hired to work for Forest, Forest has no idea she runs Need To Know... exactly.

This story is really cute, in my opinion. I loved watching Forest and Jordan fall (stumble?) in love. The chemistry between them is fiery hot, but sweet, at the same time. Jordan is so bold, but not in an aggressive way. Forest is definitely bold as well, but in an alpha male, manly, controlling way. Despite him being controlling, I really like how Dimon brings him across to readers. He's a genuinely good man, and of course, very yummy. But seriously - he's a good guy. Almost too good.

The ending is as we expect most romance novels - it wraps up nicely, and perfectly, especially for the two protagonists. I'm not complaining - I expect this from romance novels. And I like the ending of this book. This book was worth the read!

What I Did Not Like:

There wasn't anything that really stuck out to me, that I didn't like. This story is condensed to a novella, so it is very short. A lot needs to happen in a novella, to build the world, the plot, the characters, and so on. I kind of wanted more from this story - more of a build-up of intensity between Forest and Jordan. I'm not saying that their relationship was rushed - it really wasn't - but as a reader, I would have loved to see/read more interactions between Jordan and Forest.

Also, at times, Forest seemed a little *too* perfect. And the whole thing with him being a black sheep? Meh. It didn't really make me believe that he was a "bad boy" - the stereotypical alpha male with a tragic past. But that's okay. I liked him anyway.

Would I Recommend It:

If you're looking for a quick romance read, then I definitely would. It's really short, but a lot happens, and nothing felt rushed or instant. Fans of adult contemporary romance novels may enjoy this book - I know that I did! But then, I don't read too many adult contemporary romance novels though. But I still enjoyed this one!

4 stars. I think it's my adult-reads drought that I've recently experienced, but I really enjoyed this book! I'm happy I had the chance to read it, and that took that chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Romantic, Entertaining 22 Oct 2013

The Cosmo-Harlequin partnership seems to be on a Red-Hot role with their new releases. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW by Helenkay Dimon is definitely leaving smoke in its wake.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW brings a new story line to the table. The story sets you down in the middle of the most powerful city in the United States with some of the most powerful men in D.C. being dished up for dinner. Been asked out? Check out his pros and cons, and even his preferences on the website for women by women, membership only, Need to Know. The ladies are dishing and the men had better watch out!

"When she'd started Need to Know, she'd known the dating world could be physically and emotionally dangerous for women. She never dreamed it resembled an apocalyptic wasteland populated with guys in business suits who possessed zero social skills when it came to handling strong women."

"Subject Report on Ryan Peterson: Spent entire date talking about Ryan - yes, he refers to himself in the third person. When he drove me home and I refused to sleep with him on the first date, he urinated on my front porch. Run from this blowhard. - Member 121″

"Subject Request for Anton Betz: He broke up with me because his mother just died. Any advice on how to navigate this? - Member 37. Response from Member 258: He broke up with me more than a year ago...because his mother just died. Need to Know admin staff: His mother is alive."

"Subject Request for Wen Strong: Is his ladies'-man reputation for real? - Member 71. Response from Member 9: Dated him last year. He's smart, charming and amazing in the sack. He also heaves at the thought of commitment. Sex-yes. Anything serious-no."

"Subject Request for Cameron Dillard: I know he has a bad-boy reputation, but I thought maybe it was overblown?-Member 401 Need to Know Response: The site almost crashed from the number of members trying to sign on and warn you off."

And, in between all of the investigating, Need to Know's woman genius, Jordan does manage meet and fall in love with amazing man.

I am giving EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW five stars. It was a new story-line, very well written, and entertaining. If you are a fan of Harlequin, you will absolutely love this book. If you haven't yet read a Cosmo-Harlequin romance, this is great place to jump in.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars ✨This compact, taut and sexy tale packs quite the punch!!✨ 15 Oct 2013

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

The dating scene in D.C. is a minefield for women. Having fallen victim to her own share of dating fails with a number of promising candidates who seemed to have potential, Jordan McAdam started up a website that allowed women to share information and compare notes on some of the city's most eligible bachelors. A website that has gained steady popularity. Jordan works through a tempt agency during the day, and with her various assignments, puts her into contact with a number of the target bachelors her website writes about. Close enough contact to be able to gather some information.

This is how she meets Forest Redder, a successful and handsome bachelor, about whom very little is known, especially when it comes to his dating history. Forest is not Jordan's type...... or so she tells herself, but he is immediately drawn to her and makes sure that they will be in close proximity for the near future. Continuously pushing boundaries, Forest is finally able to get Jordan to let down her guard and let him in, but never all the way. She guards the secret of her involvement with the website Need to Know closely, even though Forest's company as well as Need to Know are being threatened by the same person.

Jordan's upbringing has made her very suspicious, no only of men's motivation, but also her own and therefore she questions everything and trusts nothing. She knows she should tell Forest about Need to Know, but waits until it is almost too late.

Wow! What a great little book!! I love HelenKay Dimon...... love how, even in a short like this, she can cram a complete character development with the appropriate context and all!! Not to mention a hot as hell love story, with some angsty moments and a carry-on of baggage; A powerful, somewhat intimidating and gorgeous leading man with a hint of vulnerability and an unintimidated, independent, yet insecure, feisty and beautiful heroine.

Both main characters have allowed themselves to be tainted by their upbringing, their parents and their negative experiences, no longer trusting their own instincts or feelings. They each have devised a set of rules they feel safe with, that is.......until they meet each other, and then all bets are off. The rules are broken, the feelings come out, the insecurities are tested and tried and all the baggage is exposed. And for once each of them is fully exposed.

So much so tightly packed in this novella, you feel you've had the full content of a novel. No wasted words here! I loved it, would love to have read more......

✨This compact, taut and sexy tale packs quite the punch!!✨

5.0 out of 5 stars My review from MustReadBooksOrDie 28 Dec 2013
By Courtney~MustReadBooksOrDie - Published on

I reviewed this at MustReadBooksOrDie with my friend Shelley!

Shel: This is ANOTHER quick read that I really enjoyed; it was fun and well written. Jordan has this great website to help other single women avoid the pitfalls of the dating scene she's had to endure. Forest is a young, single, power player in D.C. While she's 'undercover' getting details on a slimeball for her site, they spot each other and despite their denials, they are TOTALLY interested in each other! With a little cat and mouse and a little 'help' from their friends, they take a chance to see if this lust-y thing they have is anything more than that.

Court: I really liked it too. I was completely surprised, though I'm not sure why. I have a great love affair with Harlequin novels (aka, i love 'em) and I really enjoyed this one. Elle and Jordan are seriously hilarious. They are seriously soul sistas, looking out for the greater good of the women of D.C. (I mean c'mon..there are some weird dudes in this book!) but at the end of the day they are holding out hope for the one. That was super super fun.

Shel: The website queries, the banter between Elle and Jordan and Wen and Forest, the balance of steam and story, the low angst and HEA ending all make this a very pleasurable read. From this read alone, I'd definitely be interested in reading more of Dimon's work. Court: I think I enjoyed it that much more because we knew it was a novella (we've been trying to make sure so we're not disappointed when it ends) going in and for that reason I was aware of the pace of the novella and these peeps relationship. Sometimes ya just have to go with the flow, and I was in love with Forest from the get go. He is ultra alpha, but the back and forth with Jordan knocks him off his feet. It was epic!

One of my favorite short reads this month! Yep, yep! Check it out, yo!

Shelley: 4 1/2 Stars Courtney: 5 Stars
