5.0 out of 5 stars Very Interesting New York Restaurant History 2 Mar 2009
By "Cal" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is quite a story about a long established New York City restaurant and it's owner...... Elaine is remarkable. An interesting who's who.

If you are into the celebrity world and their favorite "hang out" restaurants - you will enjoy the story of Elaine's.

This is not about a gourmet "designer" chef - this is about one woman whounderstands celebrity struggles, their dedication to their craft, the hours, and the need to eat and relax among friends, without the papparazzi. Forty Years!

Fun to read if you are a fan of Stuart Woods Stone Barrington series where the book normally opens at Elaine's.

This is not a literary giant but it is a fun and interesting read of a time and era past...never to return.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Gem of NYC history 28 Aug 2014
By C Von - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you love NYC or like historical books, try this one. I had the opportunity to visit Elaines once mostly as a tourist and thought it a true New York treasure. But after reading parts of the book, the now closed celebrity eatery, comes alive and lives on in NYC history.
