400 pages or so of classical jewish thought.
i bought it as a reference work, but my wife loves it. She found the chapter entitled 'domestic life' to be absolutely superb containing some fascinating information which opened her eyes to the jewish perceptions of women and the home (particularly the sections on divorce and re-marriage) which helped her understand both the OT and the writings of Paul ore clearly.
for this reason alone, I have to recommend it to anyone.
but the books examines the biblical understanding of the ontology of God, cosmology, God's revelation through Torah, domestic life, social life, morality, life and death, folklore (including demons, the evil inclination, disease, etc), judicial issues and the age to come (including the messianic age).
As an eye opener to the belief system of much of second temple judaism (the time of jesus and the apostles) it is worth owning.
