Product Description

Product Description

Sally Bongers, the distinguished Australian cinematographer, compiled these interviews whilst researching subjects for a documentary film on Enlightenment. Initially she sought out established spiritual teachers, but her emphasis changed to interviewing ordinary people who had experienced a shift of perception which, in the Eastern tradition, would be called Enlightenment or Liberation. She found men and women who still live their lives much as they had done before the realisation, working and living in the everyday world. Seven of their stories were chosen for this book. Hearing these people talk about living with this understanding in the real world (not in an ice-cave somewhere!) confirmed the closeness of it all. These stories make it clear that Enlightenment can 'happen' to anyone, regardless of so-called spiritual qualifications.

this is a radical book which may offend many people; it teaches us that enlightenment is not uncommon, it is for us all and it is within reach. 112 pages of spun gold, but be careful: the world may not be ready to realise that we don't require religion or spirituality, so buy this book before they work out what it's actually saying and ban it for good.

With a nice, concise introduction by the latest "there is no Me" pundit to hit the guru scene, the stubbled and streetwise youngster Jeff "Fozzie" Foster, here is a wonderful collection of first hand experiences by "normal" people who realised they weren't really the body-mind dream and instead are primarily and eternally everything that Is, in its pure, naked essence. Showing that you don't need gurus (er, sorry Fozzie, how ironic is that?) or any of Tolle's retreats, the seven "former individuals" rouse great hope for every seeker and ex-seeker out there that, yes, the Me can stop and drop leaving Pure Consciousness to be wowed at in all its undiluted, non-judgemental glory. The trick, paradoxically, is that your mind has to stop inquiring after it. Hey, don't even buy this book! Picket every Chopra love-in out there! Tell sweet little Tony Parsons to stay home! Otherwise, all that ingestion of mind-stuff is like fattening up a pig to fit it inside a dress two sizes too small for it. But of course the Mind has to exhaust itself, and maybe yours hasn't yet, so you'll buy this book and you could do a lot worse.

At last, the Truth! 22 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
I will be brief - this book is amazing! As I read the statements by these 'ordinary people' so much became clear that had previously eluded me: perhaps the need of spiritual authority figures to maintain their status prevents them from speaking clearly and honestly - anyway, this book is the clearest expression of true Non-duality I have come across. Essential!
