This is a really great book filled with all kinds of recipes for cakes, biscuits, cookies, brownies and muffins. What I love about the book is that as well as catering for regular diets, there is also a selection of recipes for 'special diets' such as egg-free or gluten-free which definitely comes in handy when you have guests with specific dietry requirements. There are also a selection of low fat recipes which I often refer to.
The book is completely UK-friendly as measurements are given in grams not just cups. This book is from the Australian Women's Weekly collection - I own quite a few of their baking books and this one still has plenty of recipes that are new and different from the ones featured in the other books so it's a good addition to the collection.
The only downside to this book is that apart from the glossy front and back cover, there are NO PICTURES anywhere in the book. This can be very off-putting especially if you are new to baking. I actually bought this book when I first started baking a while ago and I was very reluctant to use it because as a beginner I really liked seeing pictures with each recipe so that I knew what I was aiming for.
Don't let the no-picture thing put you off though - most of the recipes fit onto one page and are not complicated! There are a lot of recipes though and although they are organized into chapters, I would suggest getting a bunch of page markers to highlight all the various recipes you want to try out and take it from there!
Overall a great addition to the baking shelf but if you really have to have something with pictures of every recipe, I highly recommend 'Good Food, 101 Cakes and Bakes' or any of the mini Australian Women's Weekly books such as 'Cupcakes and Fairy Cakes' or 'Biscuits, Brownies and Biscotti' - Happy Baking! :D
