Ah Sonia, she spontaneously combusted her way to Number 1 with Never Stop Me From Loving You and then released this fabulous album full of bounce, cheese, springs, energy, life, effervescence, cheese, cheekbones, a scouse accent, red hair and some more cheese !? (DairyLea could have sued her for such over use!)
It really was such a shame that there were 'fallings out' with S.A.W. and no other collaboration took place. For any gay fan this was devastating - the Sonia we fell in love with then drifted into the ether, losing her gorgeous puppy-ness, slimming down and producing music that didn't quite work. One feels if she had been 'developed' more and allowed to grow (like our Kylie did) then there would be a bit more of Sonia around today. And, as much as I absolutely adore Eurovision and hate to say it, it is a sign of professional desperation/suicide to represent the UK, or anyone else for that matter, and be taken seriously as an artist ever again after the event.
So cherish this album - it is a cracker and sums up Sonia/S.A.W. at their very best. It encapsulates the early 90's too and brings back a lot of fond memories. (including French and Saunders imitating Sonia on 'Star Test' - check it out on youtube !? You'll wet yourself !)
