This wonderfully up-tempo track bears some very close similarities to 'Fisherman's Blues', not a bad thing, especially when you consider that the original idea came from that same, highly productive, era in the late 1980's. The first rush of acoustic guitar is immediatetly reminiscent of their folk masterwork, whilst Steve Wickam's beautiful rolling fiddle lends the whole track a wondefully celtic air.

This is followed in 2 weeks by the new album, Book of Lightning, and it's nice to think, that if it sticks to this standard, it should be a great listen!

...sub Dylan bluster... 19 April 2007
By Mr. H TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Mike Scott always seemed like a sanctimonious bore. Even worse a sanctimonious bore who takes every opportunity to tell people that really he isn't a sanctimonious bore, rather a way, wackaday, loveable tyke. I base this on no experience like most of my finer prejudices, but during their heyday The Waterboys really annoyed me.

But every ten years or so I think that maybe I misjudged them, and take a listen to summat new. And time hasn't been kind to either of us as they (he) indulge in some sub Dylan bluster over a faux hey nonny no tune and the most irritating fiddle. Ever.

This time I'll leave it twenty years.

Hadn't heard Waterboys for some years. then this cropped up on Radio 2 a few weeks ago. This is Mike Scott at his evocative best. Almost Dexy's Midnight Runners in the fiddle hooks! A cracker.
