After the Acoustic `Knock on Wood' you wondered where the Young Gods would venture. The answer is Everybody Knows! The Young Gods have added a 4th member (ironically the only one who really is young) to play guitar, bass and samples. Everybody Knows is an album that shows the talent of a band that have been playing together for 25 years and incorporates electronics, samples, electric and acoustic guitar, with drums. Mix them altogether to get rock, ambient, industrial and maybe their best album for some time. After 25 years the Young Gods still give all those young pretenders a lesson on producing innovative music. A must buy!

Latest TYG offering 'Everybody Knows' is interesting, if a little different from their usual vibe, in that they now have the added addition of a live/studio guitarist in their line-up. So there are spaced-out-slight-soft-psychedelia undertones in 'Mr Sunshine' and 'Two to Tango' whilst still maintaining the trademark percussive dance rhythms....a kind of groove-funk-wah-wah-guitar-sonic-blues thing going on in 'No Mans Land'...and hurray, still some of the old TYG loud rock formula of 'Tenter Le Grillage', where the drummer lets rip! 'Everybody Knows' then ends off nicely with the sub-base-sonic- groove-swagger (Massive Attack-esque)'Once Again'. Roli Mosimann, long time collaborator and Young Gods sound desk knob twiddler makes a welcome return appearance, even playing some instruments himself to add a little spice and flavour to the mix. Cool tunes!

All bands change with age and young gods are no diffrent. there new offering, "everybody khows" still holds that distintive young gods sound, its just moved on from sounding indutrial. but the distant sound and influance of the doors is still there it just has a more of a back ground dance take on the old industial theme with some dark tecno blues and underworld mixed in for good taste.

How Do They Keep Getting Better?!? 4 Jan. 2011

The Young Gods, sadly, have been marginalized in the United States for their entire 25+ year career, despite having been a direct creative influence on dozens of acts that have achieved uber-popular status. For anyone completely unfamiliar with this amazing Swiss band, the ultimate starting point would be their stunning 1992 masterpiece 'TV Sky' TV Sky, but 'Everybody Knows' has the potential to be just as influential, I think. Sure, one way to approach the sound of The Young Gods circa 2010 would be to discuss how they've mellowed somewhat--matured might be a better way to put this--since the music is not as sonically aggressive these days, but that would be a misnomer. The music may not be laden with bombast, but it remains filled with fire, and lyrically, they're as sharp as ever. Imagine if Suicide were still together. This is quite possibly the album they would make... were Suicide a couple of well-cultured Europeans. My favorite overall aspect of this album is the shamanistic, tribal feel--extremely percussive and hypnotic--which calls to mind the brilliance of Tribe After Tribe. I swear I hear some vocal phrasings that are straight out of the Chris Cornell playbook, as well, which is never a bad thing. If every great band could continue to produce music this relevant and revolutionary so deeply into their careers, there'd be no room for younger acts... not that it would be a good thing to have no younger acts, of course. I'm just ecstatic that we still have The Young Gods.
Like Ween but On Purpose 15 April 2012

I would call this very good electronic music but not mindblowing next level wow electronic music (eg: Einsturzende Neubauten). The vocals are hard to digest froma a yankee usa eardrum. The swiss accent just sounds a little funny. But the songs esp Once Again, Introducing, Miles Away really hold their own . Nice sparse but creative electronic rhythms with the songs taking a turn here and there after the three minute mark with unique solos or twisting of the sounds.

It doesnt quite go over the top but it comes very close. If you like Underground, Can, Suicide or Einsturzende Neubauten you would like this .
