5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice book with some of Ryan's unique works 29 Jan 2012

The book is very well produced with a series of black and white photographs that are a new departure for Ryan McGinley. While I can see the analogy drawn by another reviewer with Michael Schmidt's Fraue series, McGinley goes a lot further, these photographs are all about youth, naked bodies and most importantly the movement which is key to most photographs by McGinley. So different from Schmidt photographs and definitely not derivative photography. A must have for anyone into contemporary photography.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well produced book, but derivative photography 3 May 2010
By nerose - Published on Amazon.com
A well printed and carefully produced book, congratulations to all involved in its production. The printing is great, the design good, the interview adds some heft to what is pretty lightweight stuff, plus the models/subjects are fabulous to look at. Unfortunately... the work is very derivative - heavily borrowing from Michael Schmidt's "Frauen" in particular. Probably not many people who follow Mr McGinley will know that photographer or book, but Mr McGinley obviously does. The original is truly excellent, and operates on a level that this cannot come close to. Mr McGinley seems a talented and hard working photographer, but is yet to find a authentic voice.
