5.0 out of 5 stars heart wrenching 26 Oct. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was so heart wrenching i cried almost all of the way through, The parents of these children were used as pieces of meat and tossed aside by useless fools working for epartments that are suppost to help and protect us, well i hope lessons are learnt here and these people so called social workers are brought to justice before this happens to another poor unsuspecting family

A harrowing and detailed account of a families battle to get justice done. An over-reaction by the authorities and a manipulative child combine to create a "perfect storm" for Parents Carla and Dean, which results in all of their children placed in protection by "family" services based one event. This book documents this from events preceding the catastrophic event and their battle to ultimately get their kids back and in some way clear their names.

What's worrying is this book is based on true events, that these parents had the courage to write this book and publicise what happened to them in such a forthright and honest way is humbling.

Their book is written by first time author Carla Monsoon, the story stands out and is told well. Described in a diary/narrative format, it's obvious the author experiences change her views on a regular basis as things get worse.

Worth a read and I look forwards to seeing what this author produces next!

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down. 10 Feb. 2013
By Ellie P
Format:Paperback
I read this book in one sitting. I just had to read it in one go. The author has written a very concise account of what has happened to her and her husband. And she should be applauded for doing so and higlighting how poor the service is for children and parents alike.
She was right to keep a diary and write everything down, this is something I personally would advise myself, to anyone going through any sort of case invloving the law, social services etc etc. You will be ever so glad in the long run.
If Carla manages to help just one family, and one family doesn't have to go through what she has, then this book has been a complete success in it's own right for that reason.
I look forward to the rest of the 'story'. I wish them all love and luck for the future and I hope they can all get on with their lives now without any interference from anyone or any agency.

5.0 out of 5 stars so true 29 Oct. 2012
By dande
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is so true to life, this is exactly how CS and SW's treat people, they not interested in the truth, even when they know they are wrong, they don't back down. They don't seem to realise they would get more respect if they admitted their mistakes instead of lying and falsifying information. Well done Carla for highlighting their failings, lets hope it is picked up and acted upon. No government body should be above the law.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting 6 May 2013
By Angie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Could not believe how the author constantly refers to her step son as a liar.....a child who by her own story has been physically abused and sexually abused by more than one adult in his young life, his trust and control that he has is only available for him over inanimate objects, he will feel comfort when he feels in control...he will be terrified of being hurt physically and emotionally and will think that they can't get him if he tells people what he feels he needs...so taking control of his life. Poor wee lad, I hope he gets some help

2.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmmmm 29 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book very descriptive of the social care system. However you lost all credibility for me when you suggest that as foster parents we let the children do just as they please. I have fostered for 16 years and I can assure that couldn't be further from the truth.

Didn't enjoy this book at all. Thought it was too one sided. There was a lot of things I just didn't understand either.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 1 Jan. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a good read. There are several typing errors throughout the book but only noticed as I'm fussy. Would recommend this book and would definitely read a follow up if another one was wrote.

I have had little to do with social services, but my limited interaction with them is the same as in this book. They do what they want when they want and make their excuses later. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Sad story
This was a sad read and although I felt for the author, it was a bit like reading a very long complaints letter and was very unbalanced.
