Book Description

5 Feb 1998
Women's views on childbirth are often eclipsed by the opinions of "experts". Acknowledging that all births are different and that women themselves are the true experts, this text details women's own experiences, including water births, caesarians and being an "old" mum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this before you write your birth plan. 18 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A change from all those pregnancy books which tell you what you should, and shouldn't, be doing; this one offers the chance to learn from other women's experiences. Every conceivable type of childbirth is described in this book, by women who have experienced it themselves. There are home births, caesareans, breeches and twins, triumphs and disappointments. Mothers describe events leading to the birth, including how they planned for it, and the editor adds informative text boxes explaining why things happened as they did, and deciphering technical terms.
I found it very helpful to read about choices in childbirth from real-life situations, and the book was a great aid in thinking about how I would like the birth to be, and what I could do to keep it safe and to give my baby the best possible start in life.
