Book Description

Now on its 2nd Edition with 30 new pages of content, this eBook will help you tobecome more productive by using Evernote® and implementing best practices tied to the wildly popular Getting Things Done® (GTD®) methodology developed by The David Allen Company. My easy-to-follow guide will enable you to make better decisions about how to organize your life in the electronic world. It is a book that you can revisit continuously to refine your process and keep you on track.

Why I am I qualified to write this eBook? Well, I don’t work for Evernote, but I’ve used Evernote since 2008, and I’ve been implementing the Getting Things Done methodology since 2007. I’ve leveraged Evernote in both my professional life to help me juggle my many roles and lead a successful life!

Editorial Reviews: Daniel's book is "wonderfully ... straightforward, conversational look at why Evernote is a great tool for productivity ... and how easily it can be used to apply GTD principles effectively. The book never talks down to you, and it never assumes you know too much or too little — it is simply honest and genuine; experienced, but uncomplicated. It doesn’t hurt that it’s a fun and easy read, either." I like how he starts off going into why we need a solution like this (whether it be Evernote, GTD, or something else). His points really spoke to me, as it sounds like we are kindred spirits in a lot of ways ... [Daniel] has come up with a pretty fascinating tagging structure for GTD. You can tell that a lot of thought and trial and error has gone into it. Dan is a maven in the world of technology and productivity ... It’s a great read and provides a much needed lesson for using an extraordinary piece of technology in conjunction with a seminal productivity system, to manage your work and your life. Daniel is a is an all round task management guru who has put pen to paper ... Daniel is very clear that this is how things work for him and encourages people to use this as a springboard to develop their own strategy ... I am looking forward to going through each of the steps that Daniel outlines and adding another dimension to what was already an invaluable tool.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken links, broken style 5 Oct. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I bought this, excited by the possibilities of Evernote for my work, and in a hurry to get going. The next day (having read this short opportunistic sketch of a book in a few hours) I found much better - and much better written - advice for free on the Evernote Forum, Lifehacker and the like. I picked up one or two ideas from this book, but I think I wasted my money. The much heralded MASTER notes for various things didn't work because of broken links, and the writer clearly doesn't know what `leveraged' actually means, but thinks it's cool to use it on every page (and sometimes twice in the same sentence). The free pdf `The Secret Weapon Manifesto' is better in every way.

I have been using the Getting Things Done methodology for a couple of years now and I wanted a better electronic means of capturing everything I wanted to do. Gold's e-book has some really good tips in it, such as the Copy-Note Linking feature which is just brilliant. His book is quite difficult to digest, though, because the structure doesn't follow -- or resemble -- the workflow that I wanted to replicate. A book about Evernote that replicates the Getting Things Done process would have been better.

By following the advice of another successful author on learning new skills, I purchased the three best books I could find on Evernote/GTD and this was the second one I purchased. I think when you take on a new skill it is always good to get several viewpoints.

Daniel clearly understands personal productivity and Evernote as his adaption and application of a variety of tools over the years (according to his book) has seen him develop something that does work. What I most liked about this book is that a few days after I first purchased this, it was updated to the next edition adding more insights, more diagrams and illustrations and updated guidance. So clearly this is someone who is current in this topic area.

This book really helped and read in conjunction with the other two I purchased then this was a really useful addition to my library particularly as he adds his own flavour and ideas to the mix.

Certainly recommended to get you started.

Even one that know most of Evernote features can learn from this book. It focus not only on technical aspects but, more importantly, on tips of how to better use the app. A good deal for everyone from beginners to advanced users.
