I remember walking into a music store some years back, and upon coming in I heard this wonderful music. This sax in a most delicious way, was pleading with someone, whispering to their hearts, caressing them. the sound was so sweet, so melancholy. I was thinking WHAT IS THIS SONG, WHAT IS THIS TAPE, AND WHO IS THIS PERSON?! The song turned out to be 'There's Still Hope', the album was called 'Everette Harp', and this was my introduction to this gifted musician.
I have never heard of any musical artist, especially saxophonist, that could speak and express himself so clearly through his instrument. You can hear every sigh, every wish and longing Everette is thinking because it flows effortlessly from his saxophone - to your heart. The arrangments are rich and lush, and lay a perfect canvas by which he so sensuously paints.
I also like the song 'More Than You'll Ever Know'. This selection, like all of his others have become to me like a best friend - familiar and casual; comfortable, cozy - a good companion.
I guarantee, you will wear this album out! You might want to purchase two, just in case...
