About the Author

Mui Li MA BA (Hons) PGCE. Born in North London to a Russian mother and Chinese father, Mui grew up experiencing difference on a very personal level. From the stories told by her parents about the Cultural Revolution, Stalin, Taoism, Confucius and the Boxer Rebellion, to the conscious and unconscious bias and ‘polite prejudice’ she experienced – where individuals felt it was okay to make inappropriate comments. The firm grounding of self-worth, instilled by her parents, and her continual personal and professional development has enabled her to be confident, thus minimising any negative effects of the discriminatory behaviour towards her. Mui is now considered to be one of the leading experts in the field of diversity, inclusion and equality, and has been involved in consultancy and training for the past 20 years. Her previous roles, as teacher, advisory teacher, curriculum leader and Education Officer, Director of Mui Li Associates, and now co-founder of Muika Leadership, have led her to become one of the most respected and sought-after speakers on this subject. She has worked extensively with different organisations from the private and public sectors, and is proud to say that the impact of her interventions is always exceptionally positive, leaving the participants/organisations enlightened, enriched, and motivated to bring about change.
