More About the Author

Born in Yorkshire to an Irish mother and an English father, I moved to Dublin as a small child where I spent my formative years in the notorious housing estate of Ballymun. My first book to be published, The Mun, is my gritty yet humorous account of the side of Ballymun that the journalists never reported. If you have read, or seen the movie, The Commitments, this story is set in Ballymun.

In the main, I write fast paced, page turning thrillers. As an avid reader nothing irritates me more in a book than padding, and so I stay clear of fluffing out my stories with needless words. Do not be fooled by my appearance, my tales are brutal, and not for the faint hearted.

The Doors of Destiny goes off into a completely different genre of work. This is a fantansy tale about a student at a castle of magic, written in 1992. I sent this book to a couple of agents, who wrote back to tell me that I would never be able to get a book about a student of magic published... ahem!

I have also written what I term as my 'nice' books. Purple Flowers and Butterflies and Bernie's 50th. Both of these books are aimed at the women's market, and the central characters are both approaching middle age when they have to face life changing decisions; although, the stories are very different.

These days I am living in England again; my family moved back here when things started to go very wrong in Ballymun.

In my working life I have been a musician, a busker (same thing really), a secretary and once I was even one of those really annoying people who call you just as you're about to have your dinner, to sell you insurance. These days I am a legal advisor, a job I have done for some years now.

Writing is my passion in life. I can't not write, if that makes sense. And after writing comes music. I am a huge Pink fan, although I will listen to anything that has va-va-voom!

I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoyed writing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant story line.. 25 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book started off with a plot that sounded familiar but soon deviated from what I was expecting and I simply couldn't put it down. Chillingly graphic and quite possibly the best retribution story I have ever read. I met the author at a family wedding in Dublin last year and am stunned that such a nice person can even think of horror like this. Can't wait for a sequel!
