Format: Hardcover
"I Even Funnier" by James Patterson and Chris Grabenstein, illustrated by Laura Park is a sequel to "I Funny" popular book for kids that introduced readers to Jamie Grimm who dreams to become best stand-up comedian, the only problem being the fact that he's in a wheelchair.

But Jamie won't allow that to stand in his way and after winning Planet's Funniest Kid Comic Contest state finals in New York, Jamie is going to travel to Boston to compete in the national semi-finals and conquer the comedian scene.
Unfortunately, with the exception of his career a bit of good is happening in his life; he's still living with his grumpy uncle, aunt and their son Stevie who bullies and humiliate Jamie at school.
Jamie's friend Gaynor whose mother suffers from a dangerous cancer will come to a bad idea to steal things out of school lockers whose consequences will lead to big changes both in his and in Jamie's life.
And while Jamie is slowly preparing for the performance of his life, everything else including the school will become less important, but how one misfortune never come alone an accident will happen that will jeopardize all his plans.
Will Jamie put his ambitions on hold and stand by the people he cares about reader will find out on the interesting book pages...

"I Even Funnier" together with its predecessor is an interesting and unusual book for preteen readers that differs from the vast majority of the other titles on market due to unconventional plot and main character who in addition to being physically handicapped is constantly experiencing new problems and life humiliations from people around him.

Format: Hardcover
This book follows Jamie Grimm as he takes the next step in the Planet's Funniest Kid Contest. Having won his state, regionals are coming up in Boston, and Jamie has to prepare all new material. But that's not the only thing he has to contend with. Being a middle schooler, he still has to contend with tests, homework, figuring out girls, the other comedian in school (whose jokes are old and painfully unfunny), and tutoring the class bully, aka his cousin Stevie.

Even though I thought the first book in the series was just average, I decided to check this one out of the library. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Maybe it was because I was reading it more as a slice of life type story and not looking for the various plot lines to weave in and out but accepting them when they appeared. Anyway, the book worked. I still found the characters a bit shallow, but I really do like Jamie and how he deals with what life throws at him - with humor.

Between the short chapters and the great illustrations, this is a fast read. It will certainly draw in reluctant readers and have them turning pages quickly, so if it does that, I'd call it a huge success.

The book left things very open for a third book, and I'll definitely be getting it. I have to see how Jamie's life progresses.

Hi guys and girls, and before i do anything else i say one thing; Read. The. Book. It. Is. Called. I. Funny. No, seriously, readers of any of JPs work will not only read this book but just marvel at its typically Pattersonish characteristics and qualities. A great laugh and a pleasure of a book. Can't wait for Book 3!
