Product Description

When I was told I needed chemotherapy I froze with fear. The word itself has almost mystical powers, conjuring up vivid mental images of frail, shadow-like people curled up on beds, quietly writhing in agony and slowly losing the will to live. In truth I'd never really thought about what it actually was, I just knew it was bad. I asked my family and friends what they thought chemotherapy was and, bearing in mind how prevalent cancer is these days, the responses were as varied as they were downright peculiar: "I've never actually been sure what's involved, but I know it's unpleasant." "It's a large machine you slide into, a bit like the old iron lung machine," (does anyone remember the old iron lung machine?)" "Every bit of your body's bombarded by deadly rays." "It's an injection that lasts for hours and hours." Well, here are just four good reasons why I needed to dispel some ridiculous myths about cancer treatment. Even the eyebrows? is an honest account of what to expect before, during and after treatment, and a guide to making the journey as comfortable and calm as humanly possible.

About the Author

Sharon Morrison was born in London surrounded by a huge extended family - her mum was one of seven children and her dad one of 14. When her dad was promoted, she, her three sisters and mum moved to Bolton to join him. She attended Mount St Joseph¿s Grammar School where her English teacher, Catherine Cassidy, helped her discover the beauty of the written word. When Sharon was 18 her mum died, and she left Bolton forever, spending a year working in Paris as an au pair, before returning to London. There she embarked on a career in advertising and public relations, where she was able to indulge her passion for writing and get paid for it. Sharon also met her husband John in London and describes him as ¿the most eccentric and brightest man in the world¿. They took the decision to move to a beautiful old house, in a peaceful village in Essex, to bring up their family. Sadly John died when Sharon was halfway through her course of chemotherapy. Sharon still lives in that beautiful old house, with their three children, Merlyn, Jenny and Richard.

Even the Eyebrows? 15 May 2009
By S. Day
This book arrived through my letterbox this morning and I've just finished it. I'm currently half-way through my first cycle of chemotherapy but my experience so far is very similar to that of Sharon Morrison. Her attitude and strength are inspirational. It is a truly superb read, funny, personal and very touching. This should be the first book any woman diagnosed with breast cancer should read. Thank you so much Sharon Morrison, your book is brilliant.

Cancer can be a daunting and frightening reality that can strike anyone at any time. Sharon Morrison documents her personal experience of squaring up to the realities of cancer/cancer treatment through her book, Even the Eyebrows ? This takes a pragmatic look at how to deal with the realities of the illness in an honest and heart rending way. This book is a must for those living through the experience and also for those around them and demonstrates that whilst there are uncertainties in the future, life is worth living and fighting for day by day. This is a truly inspirational read !! Good luck Sharon and thanks for sharing your experience.

Even the eyebrows? 21 Aug 2009
The book Sharon has written is one that all newly diagnosed cancer patients and all nurses and doctors should read.
It is readable, funny, sad and very reassuring. Sharon handled cancer and carried on with her life in the most positive of ways and the book tells you `all you need to know' far better than any leaflets you may pick up in surgeries/clinics or from the Internet.
Above all it's light-hearted - it will make you both laugh and cry. It takes you from denial to determination.
This is certainly an essential read.
