    Product Description

Eve Evans is growing up fast. Everyone seems to know what they want to do with their life, where to go and who to date, but Eve has not got a clue. The thought of university fills her with dread. To the outside world she seems to have a perfect life. Sure, her Dad left her when she was little more than a toddler… and sometimes strange things happen around her. That is the part that is public knowledge. The part Eve keeps hidden is her bipolar mother who struggles to keep a roof over Eve’s head and the bailiffs knocking on the door. Something had to give somewhere along the line...

One night, at 3:15am, a fairground rolls into town and sets up in the dead of the night. Behind the façade is a skills test booth for a school for exceptional children. A school that sits in the middle of a hidden island in the North Sea. A school that Eve finds has many dark secrets. And a vampire in the dungeon.

Eve must learn to use her talents to survive and more importantly, she has to choose her new friends very carefully as she discovers that sometimes vampires can be closer than you think.

    The De Omori trilogy:

Eve of the Damned is the debut teen/young adult novel in the De Omori trilogy. Book 2 The Island of the Dead is out now and book 3 is out August 2013.

    More About the Author

I was born twelve miles north of Newcastle in a small Northumberland town in the UK, and although I have regular forays to the real world, I have lived in the general area ever since. I studied IT and creative writing at university and there's no competition to which one I enjoy the most.

I read anything I can get my hands on. In particular, I'm a big fan of horror books, but oddly can't stand horror(slasher) films (with one or two exceptions).

I write horror for both the young adult and adult audience.

Eve of the Damned is my first novel available on Kindle. It is part one of the De Omori Trilogy with Eve Evans as the protagonist finding herself at a very strange school.

Island of the Dead is part two of the De Omori Trilogy and is out now. It explores more of the Island and Eve's friendships and foes.

The Shadow of Life is part three of the De Omori Trilogy and sees Eve struggling with her first De Omori assignment

I hope you enjoy my books and feel free to send me an email through my website www.david-basnett.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Expect Sequels! 25 Mar 2011
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I agree with another reviewer that this is perhaps aimed at a slightly younger market than novels I usually read (at 31) but it certainly kept me entertained. Never written in a condescending manner and with a great deal of peril in the staging of events, the story charts the induction of a young lady into an ancient organisation whose mission is to protect humanity from the ever present threat of vampires.

It belts along at a fair pace and, while satisfying, the conclusion leaves you ready to see what will happen next (the cover does say Book 1 after all!). As a reader of many series and follower of many TV and movie series, I quite like to know that the characters and events live in a bigger world and I'm looking forward to the expansion of this one. Definitely worth a spot on your kindle!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well crafted. 30 Mar 2011
    Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a bit wary of kindle-only authors, some of the stuff I've down loaded has been very poor, however this guy seems to have a bit of feel for his craft. The main character has an interesting back story and is well drawn, while the dialogue seems to be the way actual people would think and speak. I loved the north east setting and I recognised many of the places. I think there's a bit of potential here. My main gripe is that the subject matter, though well done, is very fashionable at the moment and I would like to see if the author could keep up this quality in a more adult oriented book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really, really enjoyed this. 3 Oct 2011
    Format:Kindle Edition
As a Father of two teenage kids I rarely get to see my Kindle these days. I read this after they had both enjoyed it and was interested to see what new take there could be on this genre. I have to say I thought this book was excellent. Despite taking on a very popular subject it feels a lot more real than other, more commercial, attempts and the kids and I both felt the characters were a lot more like people in real life. The story is compelling and well driven by the central character, Eve.

All in all a great read and I am excited to see what future work Basnett releases

The creatures in this book also turn up in a short I've seen on Kindle Dr Blessing's Curse, Or The Baby In The Bell-Jar. The authors have messages to each other on their author pages! Looks like they have plans!
