I've been collecting these for a good few years now, and this year's contest has some cracking songs in, which has made me a very happy bunny today when this arrived earlier than the predicted release date: thanks Amazon!
It may not convert anyone who's not already a fan, it may not be "cool", but I defy anyone to listen to Azerbaijan or Romania in particular and not bop along. Perfect to do housework to!
There's plenty of variety too, one of the hallmarks of 21st century Eurovision. It's not just cheesy Europop anymore, not that there's anything wrong with that! But there are genuinely moving moments too, bits of rock, and even a Belgian Westlife style number.
Sadly the biggest low point has to be the UK entry, written in haste and derided at leisure. The whole sorry effort shows how little Eurovision is regarded in this country, and gives lie to the idea that the contest is somehow fixed in favour of Eastern Europe - it's not, but many Eastern European countries send credible artists with decent songs. We treat it as a joke yet still expect to win by right. It ain't going to happen.

Purchased this particular years Eurovision (2010)CD as it has some thumping good tunes on it..I loved listening to the CD again as my kids had been singing the songs since it was aired on TV. It has traditional songs and Euro pop songs on it too, so it has abit of everything on it to cater for all tastes/genres.
I would definately recommend this CD as it is easy to listen to and is great in the car, for when you need a CD containing lots of happy summer songs!!

While we wait for the DVD to remind us of the superb job Norwegian broadcaster NRK did on the night, this double CD has all the songs, including the 14 from the two semis that didn't make it through to the final (the Bulgarian and Slovak entries that missed out on the final are among the best of the 39 songs here). There's something for everyone here, from power ballads, folky pop, hi-energy dance floor fillers, rock and 'one man and his guitar' strum-alongs. Of course the UK entry sticks out as tired, dated and uninspired - much like the whiny critics of this wonderful show in fact. If you enjoyed the Oslo broadcast you'd do well to buy this soundtrack. If you can't find at least a dozen gems to love on this then you're impossible to please or incapable of listening without prejudice. Roll on Germany 2011!
