I am A level History Student, studying military history. I found this book to be very well researched, in terms of its factual data. I was also supprised to find it very "readable". the author goes into great depth when looking at implications of military strategies and events which effected the british army. I found it a very useful textbook for my history studies, and also I found it to be an interesting read. Strachan's combination of breadth of material and depth in which he goes into various issues, results in this book being both a very useful read, and a very thought provoking read.
