4.0 out of 5 stars good guide 21 Oct 2009
This guide was helpful to us at times although we must admit a lot of it either didn't apply or we just ignored it. First time we'd been round Europe by rail, so were glad of some of the tips etc. More useful than not and cheap enough to invest in. Although doubtful we would need to buy an updated one next time we go as we now have the relevant websites and phonenumbers etc. Would definetely reccomend to first timers or those who want to plan a trip through Europe and not just one or two countries. Some info could be better laid out, but a good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for travelers who plan as they go 5 Dec 2008
By Ally - Published on
This book provides information about so many cities, I traveled in 18 countries and only once didn't find the city I was looking for. In addition, the book has city maps of all of the major cities and provides accommodation information for EVERY city, which includes phone numbers, websites and addresses. I would look in this book for food recommendations, sights to see and what to do at night. It has very detailed information about the main cities and more detailed about the other cities than the other book I brought, Europe by Eurail 2008. That book was also helpful, but did not include accommodation options for any cities that were not the "base" city. So, if you want to know how much to tip and where to stay as you travel around Europe as you please, I would highly recommend this book. It is also small and easy to carry around.

This book was useful but most of the rail information can be found online or in a Frommers book. Rail is definitely the way to go through Europe but i don't think you need this book to maximize its efficiency.
