I purchased Eurail in Europe 99 hoping that I'd have both an informative guide to European cities and details on travelling by train in Europe. My first gripe with the book (before I opened it) was that the book's cover was too short, leaving the edge of the pages exposed.
Secondly, Eurail 99 is severely lacking in concrete information on actual cities (the large font size doesn't help) and instead presents a confusing list of directions to various 'eateries' and flimsy references to city attractions. Perhaps in the 24th edition they could include maps of city-centres!
Much of the information is of no real use to Europeans or those of us who have lived here for more than 6 months since we qualify for an Interail pass, not a Eurail pass for non-EU nationals.
So if your an American who knows nothing about Europe, needs to know where the nearest eatery is in each city and enjoys reading banal trivia about Europe, buy this book. My copy is staying at home.
