I fancy myself to be an experienced world traveler. I've done all the cliché European trips: fell in love in Prague, drank my way through Italy, hostel-ed through much of Germany, and explored the naughty side of Amsterdam. But, Paris, ah...Paris, this one I've saved. Not willing to delve into the courtship of one of the world's most celebrated locales until I had the resources to do it properly, I've kept a trip to Paris on my 'to do' list. However, aside from knowing the names of a few choice hotels and the most obvious sights to visit, I didn't really know how to do Paris "the right way". That is, until now. Enter Europe Beyond Your Means: The Paris Edition. Not only is this a supremely smart and funny book, it spells out all that I need to know in order to make my trip to Paris all that I dreamed it could be. From what to wear (little black dress and high-heeled boots--check), where to eat, drink and people watch, and even how to have an American day in Paris, this unconventional travel guide doesn't hold anything back. There's even a step by step route for a pub crawl, when you want to see the British side of France. This book offers the perfect ways to delight in The City of Lights without worrying that you're missing something. It's a brilliant guide, filled with nuance of French lifestyle that the savvy visitor should know and hilarious personal stories written by two guys who obviously live clever and charismatic lives. It's just what I needed in order to finally plan my long anticipated first trip to Paris. Bravo!
