I bought this software to learn French pretty much from scratch, having studied it at a very basic level at school (some time ago!), though once opened, it becomes obvious that this is an advanced course.. I'll write another review when I've studied a bit more and can (hopefully) put it to use, but if you're a beginner, don't buy this!

It is true this software will not suit beginners in learning French, but for those who want and fun, entertaining way to learn with many more useful and familar phrases that the French actually use daily - this is really good. You can even earn a certificate at the end and continuously improve. The characters are true to the books and entertaining and I have returned to the software again and again just to entertain myself!

Asterix Learn French is a genuinely fun and innovative computer software package which helps to improve those with a fundamental basis of the french language. It states intermediate on the cover and I would agree with this - It is definitely not aimed at those who know no french at all. The program lacks some basic explanations of the tasks at which you are to complete although this information can be found in the Help section. I highly recommend this product though as an aid for those who already know some french and not as a beginners product. Laugh your way through funny adventures as you read, practise and attempt quizzes based on the popular series. Well worth the money!
