Product Description

This work presents 100 stories of weird and wonderful inventions, full-blown and well-developed disasters of what seemed to be brilliant inventions that fell at the first fence, or sometimes the second, like the first steam-powered submarine, still lying on the sea bed off North Wales.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't ever say it's never been tried! 26 April 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
A must for those whose have "brilliant" ideas. Those book is full of ideas that should or could have worked and the just plain daft ideas that people have had. Some are almost believable and some just make you smile and shake your head. Un-put-downable from the first, swimming umbrella (!), due to the inventors belief that these would actually work. Don't miss the chapter on flying!

5.0 out of 5 stars A splendid little book 12 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this to read on a flight and found it totally diverting. Absolutely hilarious in parts, particularly the totally non-PC home gadgets.

Excellent and vary easy to read... May be a it 'verbeuse' at times but that does nor spoil the enjoyment of discoveries it offers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining book written in a witty style 21 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Most of the disastrous inventions depicted here are presented in an entertaining and witty style. Some of the sections, particularly the aviation sections could have been more diverse.
