Five years on from Goblin's last album and its like they've never been gone. Goblin are a live band, they play songs that make you pogo like a nutter whilst swilling Jagermeister. Their music is a blend of finely honed stoner, metal, southern groove & straight up rawk and 'Eulogy for The Damned' is no different. It's a little more polished than usual and has a slightly classic rock feel to it which still works really because nearly all the songs are memorable. After several spins, the only one that doesn't really stick is 'The Filthy & The Few' and even thats not bad. Opener 'Red Tide Rising' has a whiff of mastodon, 'Acid Trial', 'Stand For Something' & 'The Fog' are instant classic's and 'Save Me From Myself' is like a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd & clutch. Yes - that awesome.
I've seen 'em live a couple of times now and they always bring the goods and I can't wait to hear some of these on the upcoming tour in April. Welcome back boys, it's been a while. Altogether now 'Goblin, Goblin....'
Edit: 29/02/2012 - This is Goblins best album imo hands down.
