This is my second pair ( had my first pair stolen)
Once you get a snug fit the sound is great. The only issue is they have stopped delivering the double connector for Airplanes Shame

5.0 out of 5 stars Protects your ears, excellent product 5 April 2012

Well designed product, this is my second from the Etymotic line of earphones. Sound isolation is key. Snug fit in ear canal provides excellent sound isolation, better than my active-noise-cancelling Bose headsets on flights. Was able to have my MP3 device on lowest sound setting even while in flight. HOWEVER, DO NOT WEAR THIS WHILE PLANE IS ASCENDING OR DESCENDING, as changes in cabin pressure can cause damage to your ear, due to the snug fit in the ear canal. This showed the fit creates an air chamber between ear plug and your tympanic membrane. This air chamber in some ways impede the low frequency response, since tympanic membrane movement is required to perceive low frequency response. Do not therefore expect the boomy bass response like other headphones or earphones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good headphones 16 July 2013

Good sound. I didn't feel like it was quite as good as my old pair of Klipsch S4s, but then again, these didn't break after 6 months either. Durability is good. I used the silicone ridged ear-buds. They provided the best fit. Not as comfortable as the S4s (or as good sound-isolation, surprisingly), but not bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars As expected 23 Aug 2012

I'll keep this review short. If you're familiar with Etymotic's er6i and MC5 headphones these sound exactly the same. The sound is crisp and clear. Well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent noise isolation and mic 27 May 2012

I've already got a pair of Etymotic ER4 earphones, but I needed a headset to make phone calls. The MC2 headset works perfectly with my Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone (I think Apple iPhone owners have to buy a different, more expensive headset -- it's the Apple tax!), and works well with Microsoft Lync and Skype on my computer. Noise isolation is good and the mic is crisp and clear. Would definitely recommend them.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor audio performance 1 Jun 2014

After using an Etymotic phone happily for many years, I thought this version would give me the same quality while also including a mike so I could use it with my Samsung Galaxy S II smart phone that works well with other headsets that have earphones with mikes.

Surprise: although the Etymotic Research ER7-MC2 has good high frequency response, the bass is very weak and the overall loudness is also too weak so the overall sound is not good for listening to phone conversations well or for enjoying classical music, especially well recorded pipe organ music.

Perhaps I did not read the evaluation from other purchasers and/or the specs from the manufacturer, but I wish I had not purchased this device as it is really nothing I want to use. The only positive things I can say is that it fits into my ears well, excludes nearby noise better than most phones and the mike is well positioned to pick up my voice for cell phone use. But it's a sad story for Etymotic Research since it is hard to know what this headset is good for if you expect usual quality. It isn't worth purchasing.
