All the 5 stars are right I. On my third pair and I am 44. And had so many pairs of earphones incl. recently from Sennheiser ( IE 8 best for bass if you like thumbing DnB music ) and SONY and Bose ( both good companies and well designed mid range good earphones I use as back ups. ) but if you like PURE quality of like Classical with Bach solo violin partitias or Opera sopranos these can give you goosebumps.... same as 60's fuzz guitar on them and harmonics on the notes of The Edge of U2's guitar are amazing......... anything HIGH RANGE on these.... is utterly beautiful. They are also LOUD, come with a long chord which is very strong an the earphones are especially good at keeping out the noise of the world as they go deep into the ear and seal off well the world. These are a CUT ABOVE and a awhile world order above what you expect from earphones...I never thought this kind of sound was possible...... and that is a warning..these are the nearest thing to technological heaven you can reach. A lucky person indeed to own these..these are a life changing experience not just an earphone. Woeth every penny. I personally would live off beans on toast for however many weeks to save to get another pair of these. Also the company offer a trade in deal if damaged to get another pair less than half price if you own a pair and send the broken ones in which is also good news. The box with it and tool for filters ( best out for amazing quality ) and carry case and all is really high quality and useful and comes with plenty of ear phone cones which actually stay on the earphone.....You have an option of a triple seal or a mould to your ear design with writing some sponges. I would not be without these for anything on earth. They transformed my life........Read more ›

As a musician, audiophile and absolute lover of music I feel it very important for anyone considering purchasing these headphones to have the prior guarantee that these are quite simply breathtaking!!!! I have in the past purchased so many iems from sennheiser, shure, ultimate ears triple 10s,klipsch all top end models costing a fortune, and sometimes got close to what I felt was that sonic nirvana, but these are by far in my opinion the best set I now own.Even out of the box first time you get that wow factor , these are a serious set of phones they sound absolutely superb. the first thing to say is that the sound of these is only as good as the source material im afraid, garbage in garbage out!!! but all this means is that if you are using an ipod make sure youve downloaded at high bit rates or apple lossless. I only use mine with an ipod and the sound that can be obtained is simply stunning, but I also suggest that you . use a headphone amplifier either the e11 or the new e12 (check out mine and others reviews) soundstage is spacious and the separation of each piece of instrumentation is amazing(these headphones are remarkably accurate in this respect).I can honestly say that this is the first time that ive really felt wow!! the realism that these create is superb.Bass is woderfully presented in a perfectly accurate way its punchy and crisp and if the recording produced thunderous bass then thats what youll get. Midrange is amazing ( particularly listen to a recording which includes cello and they will demonstrate this beautifully, and the clarity that the top end produces is so detailed, no wonder sound engineers use these I can hear why.these have made my whole listening experience so much more enjoyable.Read more ›

I own a couple of other IEMs, a pair of ACS T15's and an old set of Super Fi Pro 5's. I've been using the T15's with some custom sleeves exclusively for a couple of years but about a week ago decided to try the Super Fi's again. I was really surprised as the Super Fi's made the T15s sound shut in. However although the Super Fi's sound open they also exaggerate both the bass and treble which means the sound can get quite fatiguing especially the treble which can become a bit harsh.

At this point I started looking for a replacement for both sets of IEMs and thought I'd try the Etymotics as they have been very well reviewed for years now. I was a bit concerned that they may sound shut in like the T15's - I needn't have worried! I originally tried the silicon tips that come with the earphones but found that the silicon tips didn't seal very well which meant I heard no bass whatsoever and the entire sound was very thin. I then tried the foam tips, this improved the sound a lot however the seal still wasn't entirely there.

I've now found that with a good push I can get the Etys into the custom sleeves I had made for the ACS T15's - sonic nirvana! I now have a great seal, great isolation and can appreciate the sound fully but it doesn't end there! This ER-4PT set also came with the 75 ohm adapter that converts the ER-4P into the ER-4S, I use this as I've found that it makes the sound even more balanced and also makes the treble sound even sweeter - I love them - highly recommended.

which I would describe as being balanced with a lovely sweet treble.
