About the Author

Anatole Sloan and Serge Mosesov are boys in their final year at Eton. Both became interested in photography during their time at the school, and have received several awards, including winner and runner up respectively in the 2008 Youth "Classic View" category of the Landscape Photographer of the Year awards. They have held a number of exhibitions and have used their photography in support of charity.

Foreword by Mr Anthony Little, the current Head Master:

As schoolmasters, we urge boys critically to engage in the examined life. This critical understanding comes in many ways, including the photographer's lens. Anatole and Serge's collection of images views the life of a community from unusual angles, encouraging Etonians to look in a different way at what is so familiar. In particular, the quiet moments - of preparation, rehearsal or repose - give insight into life behind the public face. These are evocative images from a busy world, held for a moment in time. They offer a new insight into the continuing story of an institution and its people.

'Eton - The Boys' Side' is a vivid an enlightening view of a school who's name cannot be escaped. As a student of Eton College not many years ago I had to (and still have to) encounter and challenge the innumerable stereotypes attributed to its pupils. Once or twice we would appear in the press, often in bad light, and David Cameron's association with the school is almost always perceived negatively. This book offers a far more accurate account of what life at Eton is really like for its students. The photography is thought provoking and incredibly diverse. Whilst the photographs are not specifically attributed to either Sloan or Mosesov, one can see a clear difference in style, and the two work marvellously to combine the regal and the beautiful with the everyday and the prosaic. All in black and white, the book has a certain poetry to it and each boy who is photographed is incredibly individual in character and image (a quality captured wonderfully by the photographers).

If you have any connection to the school whatsoever, I urge you to buy this as it sheds new light on the wonderful place that is Eton. If you know nothing of the school or town, however, this is a perfect place to start.

was shocked to find out that these pictures were taken by mere students. I highly recommend the book for anybody who wants glimpses into the quirky yet wonderful world of Eton. A must buy for parents especially to preserve the cherished memories!

This book presents an unseen view of Eton, with extraordinary shots of the students, teachers and staff going about their daily lives. The book is a product of the utmost time and care, having met the authors I learnt that it was shot entirely on film, developed by them and printed in the highest quality at a publishers in Italy! An excellent project that will surely see both of the authors go far!
