5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Textbook, 25 July 2009
By Vegan-Analysis - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Ethology of Domestic Animals: An Introductory Text (Modular Text Series) (Paperback)
What a great textbook! Topics related to domestic and farm animal behavior and welfare are covered comprehensively - mating behaviors, intellectual abilities, perceptions, etc. The role of evolution and domestication on animal behavior is explained in very clear language that undergrads will have no problems understanding. No previous scientific knowledge is required of the reader. However, a college level vocabulary is required. Much of the material will be of interest to vegans and animal rights activists, because the authors have a high regard for the cognitive abilities of agricultural animals, and clearly interested in their welfare.
