Format: Paperback
"We have never been so enthusiastic about any of the earlier editions of this book..." and "introducing important innovations" is written in the preface of the 6th edition of this well known and highly appraised textbook. New to this edition are: Enhanced Assistance in Critiquing Studies, More Emphasis on Evidence-Based Practice Implications, Better Coverage of Qualitative Research, Greater Facilitation in Learning the Basics and Enhanced Support for Instructors!
However, probably because of the greater facilitation in learning the basics and enhanced support for instructors, the book now looks like a school book for primary schools! Lots of "consumer tips", "examples", "how to tell" and "additional questions" etc. in colourful boxes, the writing in too many different colours and stiles and a terrible layout! For me this is not helpful at all and I regret not having purchased an earlier edition!
Maybe all those changes support learning on a very basic level, but it is certainly most disturbing for learning and use on a higher educational level!
I do not recommend this edition of a formerly excellent book!

I bought this book when I was a student nurse for an assignment. It was very interesting but wish I had just got it from a library because I only browsed through it and now it is gathering dust.

Very Informative and useful for assignments. Easy to understand and the use of references at the back in very helpful.

This is the worst textbook I have ever read. At first I thought it was just me, but after talking to several people in my class and asking my fiance (a physics researcher) about it, I am certain it is the book. The nicest I can describe it is "word vomit." This view is shared by every person I have talked to (about 20 people). It is disorganized and confusing. The examples are hard to follow and I am frequently left wondering if they know what they are talking about. This book should not be used in a class setting. I wouldn't waste the money on it and I am upset that I was forced to buy it.

I originally paid $90 for this text when I was completing my BSN degree. I couldn't find it when I needed it for an MSN course I am taking so figured I would look for it on ebay and Amazon. Needless to say, $4 was such a great deal, I bought two!

Great condition and it even included the disk!
