Lacks detail compared to the previous edition and is rather thin on topics. I don't think this book lives up to the K&C standard we are use to. I'll be using the fourth edition for my learning.

This is literally a smaller version of the 'big K+C'. If you ever thought the big K+C was too much to carry with you for PBL or wards (which is understandable), this book seemed perfect for this gap in the market. The topics covered in this book is very similar to the big K+C. Some chapters has some basic physiology covered, some chapters have some basic procedures explained, and some chapters explain the variation of presenting complaints relating to the different bodily systems. Otherwise, most of the diseases are covered in the same format as the big K+C, making this book perfect of PBL and for exam revision. Highly recommend this book to be your next reading material on the tube or rail, but not a book of necessity in your bookshelf.

Exactly what i needed.I used to get lost in thousands of pages and among many different textbooks that i didn't know which to choose..
This book has basic things every medical student needs to know, and is far better than any other pocket book i came across.

Unfortunately, the new edition's ebook is useless. I did not want to write this review as the previous editions have been great but I have recieved a few emails asking me to and was also advised to. I had the 4th edition on mobipocket which was fantastic and easy to use. Unfortunately, this new edition cannot be read as an ebook. It reads as a book from page one to the end, but it is not a novel that should be read like that. You would want this ebook so that it can be used as a reference or you can easilly search to read about a certain condition.

The old edition had a seperate contents section for each chaper so that you could click and find what you wanted quickly. Also you could search in the index. However, on this edition, the search function is useless too as is looks for the word rather than taking you to that specific topic.

Even the index is difficult. If,for example, you want to see what page 'thalasaemia' was on, you would have to start flicking the pages from A to get to T.

I did phone and speak to Amazon's staff to see if they could speak to the publishers to correct this but I have not heard from them.

This book's easy to understand language makes it a better choice than the larger version especially if you need to learn about a condition quickly. It's got all the essential info (hence the name 😄) on common medical conditions so having it around will never make you feel completely out of depth on a subject and its an amazing book for students doing PBLs ( particularly if u've if you are one of those many many students who like to coffee their way into the night before a session is due-)

Good essential clinical medical book - but the cover is paperback not the normal protective cover. that was a problem as it got ruined quickly but i've laminated the cover to help protect it.

Its an essential book for all med students on wards. good price too.

Great as a revision aid along side the full version. Not detailed enough for medics as a sole source of info but a good revision prompt. Easy to take around for placements when big books can't be carted around. Little science/physiology included.

I bought this for finals revision and it offered concise but detailed summaries for the majority of my medical topics. It covers almost every area of medicine and sets it out in an easy-to-understand logical order.
