Product Description

This breed of great grace, speed and stamina, is one of the most distinctive looking of all. Bred on the Continent as multi-purpose hunting, pointing, and retrieving gundog, the Weimaraner has been embraced world-wide as a dependable worker, loyal companion and photographer's model, this last through the Wegmann Weimaraners.

From the Inside Flap

The Essential Weimaraner The Weimaraner, a picture of grace, speed and stamina, is one of the most distinctive–looking of all breeds with its striking grey coat and light–coloured eyes. Bred in Continental Europe as a multi–purpose hunt, point, retrieve gundog, the Weimaraner has now been adopted worldwide as a effective and dependable working dog, a glamorous show dog, and a loyal family companion. The intelligent Weimaraner has also made its mark in Working Trials. In this highly comprehensive Book of the Breed, the author traces the origins of the Weimaraner and the development of the breed in different parts of the world. There is an in–depth analysis of the Breed Standard, plus useful tips on handling the Weimaraner in the show ring. Practical advice is given on choosing a puppy, training, feeding, and general care, moving on to the more specialized area of breeding and rearing a litter. The working Weimaraner is highlighted with contributions from leading Field Trial Kennels, giving invaluable information on training techniques.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good comprehensive book, 13 Jan 2000
By A Customer
I recently purchased this book for friends who have just bought their first weimararner. They felt that this book was exactly what they needed. It covers all aspects of looking after weimaraners from puppies through to showing and breeding.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money, 9 April 2003
By A Customer
This book is of no practical use to the 1st time Weimaraner owner. It is full of very general information on the breed which you can find in any other dog book. Don't waste your money like I did...

5.0 out of 5 stars overall a great book about weimaraners, 26 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Essential Weimaraner (Hardcover)
Very heplful book if you know very little about weimaraners. The author covers everything from the history of the breed to caring for your dog. She also includes breed standards for the UK, USA, and Germany. And successful kennels/dogs that have done well in their respective country. This book was a blessing when we were looking for a weimaraner.
