5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource! 3 April 2012
By MickyS - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is my "go to" Tagalog grammar resource. The explanations contained in the book are clear, concise and well-presented. The book has a wealth of examples to reinforce the explanations. It is obvious a great deal of painstaking work went into this worthy effort. Fortunately, Essential Tagalog Grammar is not meant for grammarians only. It is well-suited to novices as well as those who are already conversant in the language. My Tagalog "Big Three" are (1) this book, (2) Learning Tagalog: A Complete Course with Audio, Volume 1 (available on Amazon and created by the same folks who penned Essential Tagalog Grammar), and (3) a good dictionary: Tagalog-English/English-Tagalog Standard Dictionary: Pilipino-Inggles, Inggles-Pilipino Talahuluganang (Hippocrene Standard Dictionaries) (available on Amazon as well).

This book covers a lot of information and is really helpful for people trying to learn Tagalog. I've used other books but this is the best resource I've come across. It's very well done!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Learning Book 14 Feb 2013
By Albert Balingit - Published on Amazon.com

I grew up speaking Tagalog and just spent a month in Manila to practice the language. I spent from two-three hours a day with this book, and learn much and quickly applied what I learned to the conversations. For a native speaker and for an intermediate speaker, this would be the book to take to the Philippines. I would not recommend this for a beginner.

I also bought the PDF version so I would not need to carry the hardback version
