If you're gonna take the MRCS/AFRCS MCQ-EMQ exam then this book by Sir A Cushieri should be yours. It covers all areas of core & system modules published in all 4 Royal Colleges handbooks in a reasonably balanced & concise text. Taken into comparison with similar textbooks, this book stands first in terms of coverage for size. There is no other book in the market that covers the syllabus like it. I do agree, however, that Bailey & Love's Short Practice of Surgery is more comprehensive, yet it lacks the MRCS/AFRCS exam orientation & focus like this book. The major advatntage of this book is that you can review it all over in 2 weeks with a yield of almost 90% of knowledge (at a rate of 50 pages/day). This was what i actually did & thanks God, I passed my MRCS in London 3 weeks ago. Similar gain from Bailey & Love would take you well over 6 months. The only disadvantage, I believe, was the not-so-reader-friendly text which is easily overcome after you go over the first 2 chapters when you get used to the authors' style. Otherwise, I would have rated this book 5 stars.
