About the Author
Mary qualified at Manchester Dental Hospital and worked as a qualified dental nurse for five years. She worked part time in general practice, and spent a further two years working as a dental nurse in the Orthodontic Department at the Royal Bolton Hospital. For 12 years she was employed by a training provider, originally as a scheme coordinator for the National Certificate in Dental Nursing training programme, and then as a tutor, assessor and internal verifier on the NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Oral Healthcare.
Helen Franks
Helen qualified as a dental nurse in 1980. She worked in general dental practices, hospitals and community dental services for 23 years and spent a further 7 years as an NVQ dental nurse tutor and oral health education tutor. She has qualifications in Dental Health Education, Dental Radiography, Dental Sedation and Advanced Life Support for Dental Nurses and is also qualified as an assessor, tutor and internal verifier. In 2006, Helen developed her own specialist recruitment company, which has recently expanded to provide recruitment services to all medical occupational areas throughout the UK.
Gayna Horridge
Gayna qualified from Manchester Dental Hospital in 1992. She gained qualifications in Oral Health Education and Dental Radiography, and graduated from Bolton Institute in 2003 with a Certificate in Education. Gayna works in a private dental practice in the northwest of England and is also a part-time dental nurse tutor, assessor and internal verifier for the NVQ in Oral Healthcare.
