Another dancer recommended this to me and let me borrow her copy, and WOW! I am all over picking this up, this has some really fabulous dance music on it. It's great for instructors, it's such a lovely survey of Arabic music. Good for introducing students to the variety that's out there. Worth the money, especially at 3 CDs for under $20!

I must admit that I have very little knowledge of Arabic music. I heard about this from a rave review in the excellent world music magazine Songlines, and decided to purchase it. I have no idea if they cover the full range of the music, or if this release contains the biggest and best names in Arabic music. I did note that these are mostly recent recordings (2000-2005), and that they seem to hit on a number of styles. There are some liner notes, but they are not extensive. All in all, it sounded very good to me - if you are curious about Arabic music, this is a good item to pick up.
