Review edited to say, that after a conversation with a tutor all I can say is BEWARE! This book is filled with mistakes, which in my opinion are easy to accept as fact until you are working at a level much higher than this book will take you. The horse does not do alveolar recruitment, nor does the mare have four mammary glands divided into two udders (she has two mammary glands with two teat cysterns each). These are two mistakes that I know of, but I'm sure there are more.
The ONLY way I would recommed this book is as background reading to understand another book/paper etc better. Rely on it by itself at your peril! There are better equine biology books out there for this level of study, e.g. Horse Biology by Zoe Davies.
