This is a collection largely comprised of traditional and long established desserts, with not too many modern, up to the minute inventive and original recipes. Sometimes you might think you have gone back to the seventies, with the likes of baked Alaska, lemon meringue pie, creme caramel and Blackforest gateau.

All the recipes are clear and easy to follow, and almost all recipes have a photograph to show what you are aiming for, always useful for these kind of recipes.

A useful compendium for traditional desserts to have on your cookbook shelf.

I love the majority of the recipes in this book. It's not one of those where you scan through and can't find more than 50% that you would actually cook. Can recommend these Essentials books as I have the Vegetarian one too and that is also great. Pictures and recipes easy to follow.
