5.0 out of 5 stars A great buy! 15 Sep 2008
I have been driving for years and always felt like a bit of bimbo when it came to cars so was delighted to hear about this book.

It is very girlie and cute but at the same time all the information is spot on. The step by step pictures of all the processes are really useful and I loved the "getting down with the lingo" section because now I may actually be able to understand what the Top Gear guys are talking about! For under 10 pounds it is a great buy and is going straight into my glovebox.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good try.... 29 Jun 2009
I bought this for my daughter (in her mid 30's) who has relied on me to look after her cars from cleaning to arranging the essentials, (servicing , taxing etc.)since she passed her driving test in her teens. As I'm not getting any younger, I thought this book may be the answer. I purchased it and read it and I (a mere man) think it's brilliant. It's set out in a clear sensible manner, it covers most things a novice (or dare I say...a woman..) would need to know to look after her car. I especially like the advice section regarding police and accidents. That's the sort of thing you can forget in such a situation. I passed it to her and she duly read (parts of) it. Having just suffered a fuel vacuum problem on her 4x4 caused by the hot sun she defiantly passed it back saying 'THAT wasn't in there...' hence the reason for four not five stars...BECAUSE IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME. Otherwise I think it's great. I have put the book in her underfloor compartment of her 4x4 where the tyre and tools are kept, ONE day she might thank me for it.

No matter how many times my Dad explains which jump lead goes where, I never seem to remember when it comes to the crunch. The same goes for changing tyres, checking air pressure etc! Now, however, I know exactly what to do and when to do it. The book is really well written and easy to follow. Everything is clear and all the pictures and diagrams explain everything in step by step detail. I would recommend it for anyone who drives and wants to know more about how their car works and how to take care of it. No glove box should be without it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good :) ! 16 Mar 2009
Bought this for my Mum, who has finally learned to drive at the age of 35. It does look a bit chavvy from the outside, and even in some bits inside, but really does have relevant information that seems to have been really useful to her and she was pleasantly surprised when she started reading it! It tells you stuff you really need to know without overcomplicating things, has good pictures and little bits of advice for Girl drivers out there, a really good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Essential Car Care for Girls 5 Aug 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This was bought as a gift for daughter, Julie, who had just passed her driving test and bought her first car. I bought her two books at the same time - this one and The Girl's Car Handbook - she is reading the other book at the moment, but plans to read this one also when she finishes the first one. Essential Car Care for Girls contains a lot of illustrations and is very colourful and looks very easy to read, but contains a lot of very useful information. I am very happy I bought it for her, as I think it is important for girls to understand how to look after their own cars. Julie has started putting her knowledge so far into practice, checking oil, water, etc. under the bonnet, checking the tyres and inflating them when they need it, etc.
