Synopsis

Chameleons are fascinating creatures - they have eyes capable of moving independently of one another, a projectile tongue that allows them to capture insects from a distance and a prehensile tail that helps keep them stable when climbing trees and shrubs. The Essential Care of Chameleons is packed with everything you need to know on selecting, acclimating, housing and feeding a chameleon. You'll also find a special section on caring for the more popular species, including tips on how to overcome problems with diseases and disorders. The best book so far i have found on chameleons in general, with excellent info on food, housing, heating etc. Not much on breeding but if this is your first chameleon book then no doubt it'll be your first chameleon so you wont need to know about breeding yet anyway. On the author, i have many books by him and find him to be the best on writing on herps.

I bought this book just after i bought my panther chameleon and it was definately worth it. It has pretty much everything in there general information and history, cage set up, choosing a chameleon, sexing and life stages, popular species, and diseases. This made sure my chameleon has stayed fit and healthy. I also found this book very easy to read and not boring. Well recommended.

This is a good general work on Chameleons, however, if you are seriously considering keeping one, you will definitely need to get and read a more detailed work. Preferably one which gives abreak down of the various animals available as they all have different requirements.
Good pictures with clear text and a reasonable set of references.
