From the Back Cover

The subject of boat electrics can be daunting. Essential Boat Electrics will remove the mystique, bring understanding, and show you how to carry out the many electrical jobs on board properly and safely for yourself. This is a worthy companion to Simple Boat Maintenance.
You will learn how to:
*use a multimeter,
*wire a circuit,
*protect a circuit,
*troubleshoot electrical faults,
*connect a PC to your instrument system,
and much more.
Essential Boat Electrics looks at tasks such as choosing solar panels or new batteries as well as practical electrical work on your boat and covers 36 topics that a yachtsman will need to tackle to keep the professionals at bay.
Pat Manley has tackled all these jobs himself and tested every electrical device available for Practical Boat Owner magazine. A keen sailor, he must have one of the most ‘self-equipped' boats afloat. He is author of Fernhurst Books' Electrics Companion, Diesel Companion, Radar Companion, and the best selling Small Boat Maintenance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic boat electrics 10 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover
As someone who has no idea about electricity I needed something that started right at the beginning. This book was perfect for me with more than sufficient diagrams and simple explainations. I was able to rewire quite a few electrics using just this book as a guide.

3.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Average 4 Dec 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
A rather dull book considering the author, Pat Manley, has produced so many engaging books and articles on this subject. Some illustrations are worse than useless such as the "NEW PROTECTED WIRING INSTALLATION" on page 89. Also bizarre blank columns that would have benefited from the inclusion of appropriate high quality photographs or diagrams A little more preparation and investment could have made this book a winner - maybe next time?
