Good to get readers reading the main parts of the Bible, but I was very disappointed with the shallow commentaries. There was very little explanation of what was happening in the text from a historical and cultural perspective and the spiritual 'lessons' felt contrived.

Great personal Bible reading guide-covers whole Bible 4 Jan 2007

I've used Encounter with God Bible study for 20 years. This is like an excerpt of those studies in one book. ~ 50 Old Testament and 50 New Testament passages. Whitney helps me see the main point of each passage, and how it relates to my life today. He keeps a reverence for God's word, and is focused on the goal of us knowing God better.
