If you are new to logic and formal methods, this is the book to go for. I've read this book almost from cover to cover and I think it provides the reader with a very good, but basic, understanding of Z. Compared to other books on the subject it does not go into long-winded passages of historical facts and why things came to be, rather than trying to explain how things are done.
The perfect book for someone new to the subject, especially as a first book on that.
