This book was purchased after watching Masterchef, and Roux and co complaining people didn't know enough about the "classics" of French cooking.

While this book was in a library somewhere for many years, it is in great condition and provides a great review of the classic recipes that are apparently fundamental to any chefs arse al of knowledge. I am fortunate enough to have a Le Cordon Bleu "bible" and these together I think will give me a good base in the "classics". Won't be appearing on Masterchef anytime soon though!

Having heard about this 'chef's Bible', I decided it was time to see if the fuss was worth it. Have to say it is. My son's the chef, I'm the one with the knives and forks and it's been struggle to decide where to start. Its NOT for beginners, as you do need to know quite a lot of the techniques. But if you do - it truly is an Aladdins cave of delights. meats, fish and the SAUCES.
