This is an un-timed adventure game which compliments ETM 1 as it's set in the same time frame but told from the father's perspective as he tries to reach his wife and daughter in the museum. There is also a friendly hobo who knows the city and will help out when he can (via the hint button).
There are interactive puzzles to work out in each scene together with hidden object areas where the latter provide the tools for the former. Some of the solutions to the puzzles are sometimes obvious whereas others take some working out. You can ask the friendly hobo for suggestions but if you need still more help then there are free online walkthroughs available.
The hidden object areas are shown in a window and are very well drawn. No scene is too overcrowded and most items have been very well disguised to make them difficult to near impossible to find. However, there is an unlimited hint button which is accurate and also recharges quite quickly.
In most scenes there are extra items to find which are not listed. The items may be an animal, a person, a toy or a piece of equipment. To locate these things you need to run the cursor over the scene until some piece of scenery starts to shake. Clicking on it will cause it to move aside and the missing piece will automatically be collected. The equipment is stored to use in a puzzle later on in the game and the other things are to be used in side quests where you have to find their recipients in order to complete them.
There is only one type of mini-game which is a search for 10 similar items. They are usually very easy but there is also another accurate hint button if you get stuck.

Good game with good graphics. The challenges are good but once you have worked them out & finished the game it cannot be played with different clues which I feel is a shame.

I found this a little confusing to start with, but after concentrating more, yes, its a good game, and worth the money, if only there were more games in this price range for a Mac...

The title seems a little mislieading as YOU do not escape the museum - your character (the husband) is at home trying to get to the museum to rescue his wife and daughter. You have to overcome obstacles that block your way as a result of an earthqueake, finding hidden ojects, lost kids and pets that you have to reunite with their owners. I found the game tedious.

A good hidden object game but felt as it was too American and a little easy to play it ended up in not a good buy.

Very, very American. (Don't look for a Birdie, it's a shuttlecock.) I admit I got stuck and gave up half way through. My copy wouldn't load properly and as a result I had a picture half the size of my monitor which wasn't much fun. In fairness the graphics, what I could see of them, were impressive.
