A fascinating faction account of an escape from Colditz Castle in WW 2. It is from the Barrington Stoke range of books, with an interest age 10-14 but reading age 8, written by Chancellor, Deborah. The book is great just for reading or as a basis for a topic on WW2.

I brought this for my son who struggles to find books that he enjoys reading. He has made a good start with this and finds the context easy to read and the words are slighly better spaced out then other bookes he has read before. The paper is also slightly coloured making less glare off the paper.

My 10 year old son enjoyed this book, really because the whole concept was so interesting. His school recommended books from this publisher as a more accessible reading tool for him because of the less childish content whilst still being an easy reader. I'm not sure it quite hits the mark though - the language feels a bit more boring/stilted than it has to be, even to maintain it's easy read status. It's ok.
