Product Description

CD Description

CD & DVD SET – THE CLASSIC 1990 ALBUM REMASTERED PLUS FIRST AUTHORISED RELEASE OF LEGENDARY GIG ON DVD One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene, the Ozrics layer ambient and ethereal landscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves and psychedelic progressive rock. It’s an open exploration of music and the soul. For over 25 years, the Ozrics have experienced the vicissitudes of the rock and roll life. The band has flourished through a number of line-up changes, spawned several side projects, created their own record label, put out close to 25 albums, scored a hit record and sold over a million albums world-wide. And yet, the basic motivation behind the band’s existence has never wavered. Their signature blend of hippy aesthetics and raver electronics with spiraling guitars, textured waves of keyboard and midi samplers, and supergroovy bass and drum rhythms continues to delight fans across the world to this day. Erpland was the band’s eighth release and was originally released in 1990 and is considered by many fans as one of their finest works. The album has been remastered for this 2 disc set. Disc 2 is a DVD featuring the first authorised released of the much sought after Brixton Fridge gig which has been lost for 20 years and only previously available on bootlegged VHS tapes. The gig was recorded in May 1991 and features the classic line-up of Ed, Joie, Jon, Roly, Merv and Paul Hankin. These days there's a tendency to up the bass to ear-shattering levels when remastering, but they've managed not to go quite that far here. An album of extended instrumental pieces, very typical of Ozrics but somehow holding a head above other albums of the era. The added DVD is interesting for fans of the band, but like a lot of live vids these days isn't in itself anything above something that gets thrown in as an extra.

Er.... 22 Sep 2010

This deluxe two-disk package contains the classic 'Erpland' album digitally remastered and the long anticipated DVD release of 'Live at The Fridge' concert. As a long-time Ozrics fan and one that has been looking forward to seeing the previously unavailable 'Brixton Fridge' gig I was disappointed to find out that the DVD will only play in Black and White! I can only assume that the record company decided to go for region Ø NTSC instead of PAL, unfortunately my region 2 Sony wont play NTSC Ø discs in colour:(
The music as ever is brilliant and the acompanying 10 page booklet informative and lavishly illustrated.
It goes without saying that my current DVD players days are numbered...

Great easy sale. Arrived in good time as was for a birthday present. Havent seen the video yet but have owned this CD for many moons & after recently taking someone to their gig, I reckoned it was a cool recommendation.
